- Hone point , flatten barb. Leave head space. Wrap to bend. Apply lead wraps; secure. At bend, tie in a few guinea fowl hackle barbs for tail. Form a tapered yarn or dubbed abdomen, thicker toward thorax.

- Next to raffia, tie in by tips 2 or 3 peacock herl. Trim quill section from guinea fowl hackle; leave 4 to 5 barbs each side and short lengths of quill extending both ends. Tie section atop thorax; trim barb tips symmetrically to form short spent wings. Advance thread to head space.

- Wrap peacock herls forward; tie off, trim excess. DO NOT wrap down wings. Re-wet raffia and flatten. Bring raffia forward atop thorax; secure at head space. Clip excess. Form tapered head, whip finish, cement.

- Select hackle feather. Trim off barbs closest to butt. Tie in at wing base; trim excess butt. Spin hackle 2 turns forward, 2 turns behind wing; tie off, trim excess tip. Form large head. Whip finish, clip thread. Lacquer.
