Diablo Valley Fly Fishermen
Fly Tying Classes

Note: We will post the new class schedule and additional information as soon as it is available.

The DVFF tries to offer one fly tying class for beginners and another for intermediate/experinced tiers each year. Additional one day special classes concentrating on a particular style or variety of fly are held throughout the year. The class will teach you how to tie various types and styles of flies using a variety of materials. After taking these classes and with a little practice, you should be able to tie many of the popular flies you now buy.

PURPOSE: To assist members in developing their skills in fly tying, whether it is for fishing purposes or for artistic purposes.
AVAILABILITY: Programs are to be made available to all members on an as needed basis. Therefore, programs need to assist those who are new to the sport, old timers (aka experts) and those that just want to learn more about the sport and art of flyting.
COST: $45 (total of $45 for all six classes - cheapest game in town!) The classes cost each student $3.00 per class for the beginning and intermediate classes (6 classes at 2.5 hours per class). Regular full time classes at fly shops cost $180.00 for eight weeks at 2.5 hours per week (9.00 per hour for 20 hours of instruction). Our members get both more time and inexpensive price. The all-day intermediate and advanced classes cost each student about $6.00 per class hour. All class charges go directly to DVFF - the instructor receives no remuneration.
All proceeds go to the club as the facilities and instructor time are free to the club. Students are to supply their own tools (lists will be provided for each session). A BIG thanks to Jamie Burman, owner of Creative Sports Fly Shop in Pleasant Hill, California for donating the classroom space.
