Dave McCant's Fly Tying Instruction Web Site
DVFF member Dave McCants offers a range of fly tying classes, from Beginning Fly Tying to Specialty Classes. The costs for these classes vary and there is a DVFF member discount. Classes take place in Dave's "Tying Den," a specially built room in his Pleasant Hill home that can accommodate up to seven students, with an oval eight-foot table, track lighting and special plug ins for vice lights. Hooks and materials for classes are provided by Dave. Students are expected to provide their own tools (recommended tools list - vice, scissors, bobbin, bodkin, hackle pliers, hair stacker/packer/comb - can be provided).
In the past Dave has offered Beginning Fly Tying in two formats: an intensive weekend session (for students who want to go through the entire series of classes over a two-day period due to limited time during the work week or other constraints) and an eight-week session, usually during Wednesday evenings. His Intermediate Fly Tying classes of the past have also followed a weekday evening format running for six weeks. You can get more information about upcoming session on Dave's Web site, http://DaveTyer.com, or contact him at . You may also register for classes via the Web site.
Dave's Specialty Classes, usually take place during one weekend day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (These classes require a minimum of four students). These classes are also held in his "Tying Den," and while coffee and filtered water are provided, you are requested to bring a lunch and anything special you would like to drink.
