Alaska’s - “The Chosen River”
with Capt. Chris Maher

Join us this month for a presentation by Chris Maher on the “Chosen River,” a wild and remote river in Alaska. Chris recently earned a spot to guide on the famous “Chosen River” in western Alaska for Beyond Boundaries Expeditions.

Maher Chris SpeakerChris will talk about the 100-mile float trip on this river, from the mountains of Alaska, through the endless Tundra, and to the Bering Sea. Chris will discuss proper gear, tackle dos and don’ts, and different techniques to catch Alaska’s leopard rainbow trout.

Chris currently resides in Truckee, Calif., where he has operated a fly fishing guide service since 2009. His passion for the outdoors arose early. He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout at a young age and after graduating from Chico State University he moved to the mountains to fish and ski. His love for moving water got stronger as he ventured north to Alaska. This summer will be his sixth season guiding in Alaska for Baranof Wilderness Lodge as a captain. When Chris isn’t fishing, he tends to spend his time tying flies, trail running, and backcountry skiing.
